Special news about Amy's Farm Produce

We know that many of you rely on our produce as a part of your healthy diet.  We use sustainable methods, we are 100% chemical free, and we are “beyond organic” meaning we do not carry the organic name on our products because we do not use any herbicides or pesticides, organic or otherwise.  Our original 10 acres are closed, as the landowner sold to warehouse developers.  But we have established new gardens on a nearby property of 3 acres. Careful planning went into establishing the new site, starting 1 year ago, using our farm compost and chemical-free methods to plant an array of veggies and herbs. Amy has established a new bountiful garden abounding in all the favorite herbs, vegetables, fruits, and flowers of the original property.  Amy's new gardens are located on a property that is closed to the public.  Her family has named it Blackbird Ranch, as it is teeming with the endangered Red-winged Blackbird.

Our farm-to-table restaurant:

Amy and her husband, Brad own a restaurant in Claremont called Uno Tre Otto.  The restaurant is a true Farm-to-Table experience that features produce grown in Amy's Gardens at Blackbird Ranch.  Each day Amy harvests produce for the restaurant, and the chefs prepare the ingredients.  The freshness and organic goodness of the produce allow the flavors to shine, creating a very unique and special dining experience.  To find out more about this iconic restaurant visit www.unotreotto.com

What is CSA – Community Supported Agriculture?

CSA is a partnership between a farm and a community of supporters.  It provides a relationship between the production and consumption of food.  CSA participants commit to supporting the farm throughout the season and assume the costs, risks, and bounty of growing food along with the farmer or grower.  Participating in community-supported agriculture creates a responsible relationship between people and the food they eat, the land on which it is grown, and those who grow it.

Why Is Community Supported Agriculture Important?

  • CSA's direct marketing gives farmers and growers the fairest return on their products.
  • CSA keeps food dollars in the local community and contributes to the maintenance and establishment of regional food production.
  • CSA encourages communication and cooperation among farmers.
  • With a "guaranteed market" for their produce, farmers can invest their time in doing the best job they can rather than looking for buyers.
  • CSA supports the biodiversity of a given area and the diversity of agriculture through the preservation of small farms producing a wide variety of crops.
  • CSA creates opportunities for dialogue between farmers and consumers.
  • CSA creates a sense of social responsibility and stewardship of local land.
  • CSA puts "the farmer's face on food" and increases understanding of how, where, and by whom our food is grown.
